This may come as a surprise to many who know me and my love of golf, but, Monday will be my first day on the course. this season.
And what a day to play my first round of the season. It is Media Day for the Senior PGA Championship at Oak Hill Country Club. That’s right…my first round of golf for the year is at one of the most esteemed country clubs in the Northeast…if not the entire nation.
Those who know me also know I’m not a great golfer. Oh, yeah…I love the game and I don’t totally embarrass myself. If I break 80 I’m happy. But, playing your first round of the year at Oak Hill is like driving a NASCAR the first day you get your driver’s license.
Five things guaranteed to happen to me at Oak Hill on Monday”
- I will lose about a dozen golf balls
- I will feel bad about taking divot as big as a legal-sized envelope
- I will lie about my score on at least three holes.
- I still won’t break 100
- I will survive to golf again later this week…probably on Tuesday at Shadow Lake. Now, that’s more like it.
